Thesis Degree Administration

This page contains various links about administration of VUW theses degrees, useful for Elvis people. Lots of information is now located within the Faculty of Graduate Research.

Web Submission System

We have now had a web submission system for the theses and the full proposals (for PhD and MSc students). PhD students are required to submit both proposals and theses, and MSc students are required to submit theses only. The URLs can be found in:

• http://www.ecs.vuw.ac.nz/cgi-bin/auth/submit?course=comp690 (for PhDs)
• http://www.ecs.vuw.ac.nz/cgi-bin/auth/submit?course=comp591 (for MScs)

For those who have finished your confirmation proposals, please send the PDF version of your proposals. When you finish your thesis to be submitted to the Faculty office, please submit the PDF version of your thesis to the above system.

Faculty of Engineering 6-monthly reports

These are due twice yearly (ha!) on the 1 October (or 1 April) of every year.

IF you are enrolled in a science faculty research degree by thesis (i.e. PhD or MSc Part II in computer science) AND have been enrolled since 1 April (or 1 October) or before

THEN

you need to print out the Six Monthly Report Form; fill out your side of the form, and then get the other side filled out and it signed by your supervisor: for most of you it will be both of us! We then send the form back to the ECS school office.

The Colonel - Elvis Internal Student Tracking System

The Colonel is an Elvis admin wiki - it seems to have lapsed somewhat.

Basically a way for your supervisor to keep track of everything and everyone. If you go to e.g. http://www.elvis.ac.nz/colonel?YourName (where your name comes from the student records system somehow) you should see a bloglike page where we can write comments about how you're doing. The main point is to make sure no-one gets lots between the cracks...
