Friday 30 April, Week 7

  • Briefly looked into applications of telemedicine in recent(-ish) disasters - Hurricane Katrina, Chile Earthquake
  • Wrote summary of contents of related works section in the interim report and tried to link relevant topics together
  • Attempted to get the Nokia emulator working with Eclipse and failed miserably

Friday 23 April, Week 6

  • Talked about IEEE International Mobile Health (mHealth) Workshop
  • Talked about MCI Triage iPhone application. Could compare own mobile application to the iPhone application in a usability test.
  • Finished MIDlet examples with command listeners. Also looked into how to structure the classes properly.
  • Transferred MIDlets to mobile phone
  • Looked into particular conferences from ACM (CHI, ToCHI, MobiSys and Mobility) but searches weren't too fruitful.
  • Found a lot of relevant research papers in medical informatics journals
  • Currently have a large wad of research papers to filter

Thursday 1 April, Week 5

  • Have written MIDlet examples
  • Set up repository and imported MIDlets
  • Got mobile phone (Nokia N95) to work with
  • Lit review keyword searches - medical informatics, mobile e-health services, telemedicine, emergency response, first responders

Friday 26 April, Week 4

  • Set up Java ME and relevant Eclipse plugin
  • Started looking at example MIDlets within Eclipse

Friday19 April, Week 3

  • Finished project proposal
  • Decided on Java for application development
  • Looked at paper "Usability Evaluation for Mobile Medical Evaluation Systems."
  • Need to look at author's web pages to determine related work within the subject area
  • Need to look at more papers for bibliography and write summaries for each

Wednesday 10 March, Week 2

  • First meeting with Stuart
  • Talked about contents of project proposal
  • Discussed possible project topic routes - chose to go with communication of info by search and rescue workers in a disaster situation
