Biography
I studied commercial law and accountancy at Victoria University of Wellington before working for Andersen Consulting on the redesign of the Inland Revenue tax system. Subsequently I obtained a Masters and PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. While at Newcastle I was involved in three EU projects:
- Design for Validation;
- Dependable Systems of Systems; and,
- Malicious- and Fault- Tolerant Internet Applications.
My PhD is in the area of software engineering and application-level security.
I have been working at Victoria University of Wellington since 2003.
Teaching
My teaching interests include security, operating systems, data communications, distributed computing and ethical issues related to computing.
In addition, having grown up in the Kapiti/Mana area, I have taken great pleasure in being able to contribute back to my community by delivering adult education activities in the Porirua area.
